Export your MJ library, set up Folder Sync, and run your first search — step by step.

metadata fields preserved
You’ve downloaded hundreds (or thousands) of MJ images.
They’re sitting in a Downloads folder with cryptic filenames like dr.jb_A_minimalist_graphic_of_bold_white_sans-serif_text_0d3a8a32.png
MJ’s web app organises them well inside midjourney.com — but your local files are chaos.
You can’t search by prompt, style, or visual similarity across your local library.
Search by prompt text
across your entire MJ library
Find visually similar images
without remembering prompts
Track styles and parameters
see which --sref codes and settings you’ve used
Preserve compliance metadata

Get your images out of midjourney.com and onto your local machine with all metadata intact.
Go to midjourney.com → Your Images
Log in to the Midjourney web app. All your generations are listed under “Your Images” in the left sidebar. You can also navigate into specific folders or folder groups if you want to export a subset.
Select images
Use Ctrl/Cmd+A to select all, or filter by project or folder first. Use saved searches to narrow down to a specific style or time period.
Download (single or batch)
Single and batch downloads contain identical metadata. Both preserve all six embedded fields. Batch downloads arrive as a ZIP file.
Unzip to a dedicated folder
# Recommended folder structures~/Pictures/Midjourney/ (recommended)~/MJ-Library/ (alternative)~/Creative/MJ-exports/ (if you have multiple AI tools)Include your legacy pre-2025 downloads too — even files without metadata benefit from visual search and manual tagging in Numonic.

Free tier available. Social login supported (Google, GitHub). No credit card required.
Download Numonic Desktop Sync
Open Desktop Sync → Add Folder → Point to your MJ folder
Select the folder you created in Step 1d. Desktop Sync will begin scanning immediately.

Desktop Sync automatically handles the entire pipeline:
Scans for image files
Finds all PNGs, JPEGs, and WebPs in your folder
Extracts embedded metadata
Reads all 6 MJ fields from each file
Uploads to your Numonic library
Secure cloud storage with tenant isolation
Creates searchable index
Full-text search across prompts and parameters

By prompt text
Type a word from a prompt you remember — “cyberpunk”, “watercolor”, “portrait”
By style
Search for a --sref code, a style keyword, or an aesthetic term
By visual similarity
Click any image → “Find similar” to discover related work across your library
Your MJ exports are now searchable by prompt, style, and parameters
