The advantage is broad tool compatibility: any application that reads XMP metadata can access IPTC 2025.1 fields. The limitation is that XMP data can be modified or stripped without detection.
C2PA Content Credentials: The “Proof”
C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) Content Credentials are cryptographically signed manifests that bind metadata to an asset. Every action—creation, editing, export, re-signing—is recorded as a tamper-evident assertion. If someone modifies the file without re-signing the manifest, the credential shows as invalid.
